Cream Cheese Spinach Dip

This Cream Cheese Spinach Dip combines softened cream cheese with Greek yogurt, thawed spinach, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses for a creamy and cheesy blend. Garlic and onion powders along with kosher salt and black pepper round out the seasoning, resulting in a balanced, savory dip. Baked until bubbly and topped with melted golden mozzarella, it offers a smooth texture with a slight tang from the yogurt. It pairs well with toasted French bread or other dippers, making it a convenient appetizer or snack.

Description

Cream Cheese Spinach Dip features a blend of softened cream cheese and creamy Greek yogurt mixed with thoroughly drained spinach. Mozzarella cheese provides melt and stretch, while Parmesan adds a sharp, nutty note. Garlic and onion powder season the mixture alongside kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, achieving a savory profile. Baked in a prepared dish until the cheese melts and then broiled briefly for a golden top layer, the dip has a creamy, slightly tangy flavor accented by melted cheeses.

The baked dip is served warm with toasted French bread or other crackers and is suitable as an appetizer or party snack. Its richness comes through the cheeses, balanced by the moisture from the yogurt and spinach.

When preparing, ensure the frozen spinach is well drained to prevent excess moisture. Leftover dip keeps well refrigerated for up to three days and reheats nicely in the oven at 360 degrees Fahrenheit. The dip also can be made ahead and refrigerated, requiring just a stir before serving.

Ingredients

Servings
  • cooking spray
  • 10 ounces spinach thawed, frozen
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 ¼ cup mozzarella cheese divided, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt plus more to taste
  • black pepper freshly ground
  • French bread slightly toasted, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and set an oven rack in the upper third of the oven. Spray an 8×11 baking dish with cooking spray, then set aside.
  2. Set thawed frozen spinach over a colander and wring out any excess moisture with a clean kitchen towel or your hands.
  3. In a large bowl, mix Greek yogurt and cream cheese until smooth. Add spinach, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
  4. Transfer to prepared baking dish and smooth it out to an even layer. Top with remaining ¼ cup of mozzarella.
  5. Bake until cheese is melted, about 5-10 minutes. Switch oven to a high broil and place dip on top rack. Broil until cheese is golden brown and bubbling, 2 minutes. Serve immediately with crackers, bread, or pita.

Notes

  • Drain the thawed frozen spinach thoroughly to avoid soggy dip.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven at 360°F.
  • This dip can be prepared in advance and refrigerated; stir well before serving to refresh the texture.
