Creamy Basil Dressing

This Creamy Basil Dressing blends mayonnaise and sour cream with fresh basil, green onions, lemon juice, and anchovy paste for a rich, herbaceous sauce with a hint of umami. Garlic and seasoning add depth, creating a smooth, flavorful dressing that can be thinned with milk if desired. It benefits from refrigeration to meld flavors before serving.

Description

Creamy Basil Dressing combines a base of mayonnaise and sour cream with fresh basil leaves and chopped green onions, creating a thick, herb-rich texture. Lemon juice brings brightness to the blend, while garlic and anchovy paste contribute savory depth and subtle complexity. Salt and freshly ground black pepper round out the seasoning.

Blending the ingredients until smooth ensures an even consistency suitable for salads, vegetable dips, or sandwich spreads. The anchovy paste adds umami without overpowering the basil’s fresh flavor. This dressing can be refrigerated overnight to develop flavor integration and served chilled.

Before serving, the dressing can be thinned with a small amount of milk for pouring consistency if desired. Its fresh herb components and creamy texture make it a versatile accompaniment.
