Creamy Cucumber Salad

Creamy Cucumber Salad combines thinly sliced peeled cucumbers with red onion and fresh dill tossed in a tangy, mildly sweet sour cream dressing. The salad is crisp and refreshing, enhanced by the herbal dill and a balance of salt and sugar. It can be served immediately or chilled to develop flavors, making it a simple side dish to lighter meals.

Description

The salad uses peeled cucumbers with seeds removed to ensure a tender bite. Red onions provide sharpness and texture contrast, while fresh chopped dill brings aromatic herbal notes. The dressing blends sour cream with salt, black pepper, and a touch of sugar, coating the vegetables evenly. The seasoning highlights the natural freshness of the cucumbers without overpowering them.

The dish is ready to serve right after mixing but benefits from chilling up to two hours to meld flavors and firm the texture. It is a cooling accompaniment well suited for warm days or alongside grilled meats and sandwiches.

Using fresh dill is advised as its flavor is key. Thin, uniform slices of cucumber and onion are recommended—using a mandoline can help achieve this precision. The type of cucumber can vary; English, Persian, or waxy varieties work, though peeling waxy ones is best to avoid bitterness or tough texture.

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions
