Creamy Jalapeño Dressing
Description
Creamy Jalapeño Dressing combines plain Greek yogurt with ripe avocado to create a thick and velvety base. Lime juice imparts citrus brightness, balanced by the subtle heat and vegetal notes of a deseeded jalapeño. Olive oil adds a silky mouthfeel, and ranch dip mix brings a savory herb dimension. After blending all ingredients, water is used to adjust thickness for a pourable consistency. Optional fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro can customize the herb profile, while garlic adds pungency if desired.
The smooth dressing is ideal for drizzling on salads, using as a dip, or topping roasted dishes. Its texture is creamy but lightened by the lime juice and yogurt, perfectly marrying the mild spicy kick with fresh herbal undertones.
Since it contains fresh ingredients, the dressing should be stored cold and shaken well before use due to natural separation during refrigeration. The recipe allows adjusting the spiciness by including jalapeño seeds or adding more jalapeño if a stronger heat is desired.
Ingredients
- 5.3 oz yogurt 1 serving size cup, plain, Greek
- 1 avocado ripe
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 lime juiced
- 1 jalapeño deseeded
- ½-⅔ cup water filtered
- 1 packet ranch dip mix
- pinch red pepper flakes
- handful fresh herbs optional (parsley, dill, basil, cilantro, whatever you have!)
- 1 garlic optional, clove
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Grab a jar or glass measuring cup that is immersion blender friendly (see below if you don’t have an immersion blender). Juice limes, add yogurt, olive oil, avocado, ¼ filtered water, and ranch seasoning packet to the glass. Blend.
- Slice and dice the jalapeño into small pieces so it’s easier for the blender to immerse the jalapeño throughout. Add them to the glass. Add fresh herbs, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes.
- Blend for 45-60 seconds or until dressing is completely mixed and creamy. Dressing with be thick. Thin it out with another ¼-⅓ filtered water if needed. You may need to use a rubber spatula to push the sides of the dressing down to ensure everything is thoroughly blended.
Notes
- To increase the spiciness, retain jalapeño seeds or add an extra jalapeño.
- Store the dressing in the refrigerator for up to one week; shake well before serving to recombine separated ingredients.
