Creamy Jalapeno Sauce

This Creamy Jalapeno Sauce is an even better version of Taco Bell’s jalapeno sauce. It’s perfectly zesty and flavorful with just the right amount of heat.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 jalapeños cut in half with seeds removed, roasted
  • 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil for roasting the jalapenos, generic cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • ¾ cup cilantro firmly packed
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ tablespoons lime juice fresh
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil extra virgin
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt sea salt
  • ¼ black pepper cracked

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400º.
  2. Cut the jalapenos in half and remove the seeds. Place them on a baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. Roast in the oven for 15 minutes (flipping halfway through) or until soft and slightly charred. You can also broil them for a couple of minutes near the end of the cooking time.
  3. In a food processor or blender, add all the ingredients, including the roasted jalapenos. Blend until smooth.
  4. Enjoy this on everything from steak to chicken and fish. Perfect as a sauce on tacos, roasted corn, or as a salad dressing.

Notes

  • Keep the seeds: If you love spice, keep the seeds in the jalapenos to add more heat.
  • Try parsley: Don’t like cilantro? Swap it for a milder herb like parsley.
  • Storage directions: Store this sauce in a mason jar for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
