Creamy Pea Soup

Creamy Pea Soup blends fresh or frozen peas with green onions, garlic, and optional cumin seeds, finished with fresh mint. It is pureed to a smooth consistency and seasoned simply with salt and black pepper. This soup offers a vibrant green color and mild, fresh flavor with herbaceous accents.

Description

The Creamy Pea Soup features peas cooked with minced garlic, chopped green onions, and toasted cumin seeds for a subtle warm note. The base liquid can be water or stock, simmered briefly to combine flavors. Fresh mint leaves are stirred in after cooking to enhance brightness.

After cooling slightly, the soup is pureed to a smooth texture that highlights the peas' naturally sweet flavor and the fresh herbs. Salt and black pepper round out the taste. This soup can be prepared on the stovetop with controlled toasting of spices or using an Instant Pot for quicker cooking.

The soup serves as a light starter or simple meal, showcasing fresh green pea flavor with herbal lifts. Variations can adjust thickness by liquid amount or retaining some liquid before blending. It can be made from fresh, frozen, or canned peas depending on availability.
