Creamy Sausage and Spinach Stuffed Shells

Jumbo shells are precooked then filled with a creamy, cheesy Italian sausage and spinach mixture before being baked with marinara and mozzarella for a comforting, filling dinner great for families of all sizes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 ounces pasta shells about 1/2 box, dried, jumbo
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded

For the creamy Italian sausage filling

  • 1.5 pounds Italian sausage mild or hot
  • 1 onion diced
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 4 garlic pressed, cloves
  • 8 ounces spinach chopped, fresh
  • 3 tablespoons parsley fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚F.
  2. Cook pasta shells per package directions.

To make the filling

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the Italian sausage and onion until no longer pink.
  2. Stir in the cream cheese, parmesan and garlic until melted and creamy.Add the spinach and parsley and stir to combine.

To assemble the pasta shells

  1. Prepare a 9x13 casserole dish by spreading half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of the pan.
  2. Once cooked, drain the pasta shells. Add a spoonful of the sausage mixture inside the shell and arrange filling side up in the casserole dish. Repeat with all shells.
  3. Top with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and shells are piping hot.
