Creamy Shrimp Pasta Salad

This creamy shrimp pasta salad combines cooked shrimp and crab meat with tender wheat pasta dressed in a tangy mixture of Greek yogurt, lemon, and Old Bay seasoning. The salad includes fresh chives and crunchy celery for texture contrast. Chilled before serving, it offers a cold, refreshing flavor with a balance of acidity and seafood sweetness, suited for warm-weather meals or potlucks.

Description

The Creamy Shrimp Pasta Salad uses short wheat pasta cooked al dente, then cooled under cold water to stop cooking and prevent clumping. The dressing is made by whisking plain Greek yogurt with fresh lemon juice and zest, Old Bay seasoning, chopped chives, salt, and pepper for a flavorful but mild creamy coating. Pre-cooked shrimp cut into bite-size pieces and crab meat are gently folded into the coated pasta along with finely diced celery, which adds a crisp texture and freshness.

This salad delivers a cool and creamy profile highlighted by the citrus notes from lemon and spiced complexity of Old Bay seasoning. The combination of chewy pasta and firm shrimp with crunchy celery results in a balanced mouthfeel. Chilling the salad for 30 minutes allows the flavors to meld, enhancing the overall taste and making it an appealing dish on a warm day.

The recipe recommends choosing any short pasta and suggests lentil pasta for added protein. It also allows substitution of Greek yogurt with dairy-free alternatives. The salad is served cold and keeps well for a few days refrigerated, making it a convenient make-ahead side or light meal.
