Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound tortellini choose your favorite filling
  • 4 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • parsley for garnish, fresh

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add tortellini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining the tortellini.
  2. While the tortellini is cooking, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the heavy cream and add Italian seasoning. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Let the cream reduce slightly for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the cooked and drained tortellini to the skillet. Toss to coat with the creamy sauce. Gradually add the reserved pasta water, about a tablespoon at a time, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  4. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve the creamy garlic tortellini hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and smoothest sauce.
  • Reserve some pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
  • Add cooked vegetables like spinach or peas for extra nutrients.
  • Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper just before serving.
