Creme Brulee French Toast Recipe

Creme Brulee French Toast uses Texas toast soaked overnight in a mixture of eggs, half and half, vanilla, and salt, then baked over a caramelized butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup base. The result is a rich, custardy toast with a sweet, sticky surface reminiscent of the classic dessert. This recipe offers a comforting sweet breakfast or brunch option that can be prepared ahead and baked fresh when ready to serve.

Description

The Creme Brulee French Toast Recipe starts by caramelizing a mixture of butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a baking pan, creating a sweet base. Thick slices of Texas toast are placed over this base, then soaked with an egg and half and half custard enriched with vanilla and a touch of salt. After refrigerating for several hours or overnight, the dish is baked uncovered until set and warm. This baking method yields a moist, tender interior and a sweet, slightly sticky surface. Turning the pieces upon serving ensures even exposure to the sugary topping.

This French toast is well suited for breakfast or brunch and works particularly well for feeding a group since it can be prepared ahead and baked in one pan. It pairs nicely with fresh fruit or a dusting of powdered sugar. Serving it warm maintains the custardy texture and highlights the caramelized topping.

For best results, refrigerate the soaked bread to allow thorough custard absorption. Baking uncovered allows the surface to set without becoming soggy. Turning the toast pieces after baking ensures all sides have contact with the caramel base.
