Crispy Air Fryer Bacon Recipe
Description
The Crispy Air Fryer Bacon Recipe uses an air fryer preheated to 350°F to crisp bacon strips laid out without overlapping. This method delivers consistent heat, rendering fat evenly and producing strips with a nicely browned surface that is firm yet not burnt. The cooking time varies by bacon thickness and fat content, from about 9 minutes for thin slices up to 12 minutes for thicker cuts.
Lifting sections of the strips before cooking can create wavy pieces if desired, adding visual appeal. Using aluminum foil under the basket (where there are no holes) helps catch drips and simplifies cleanup. Between batches, removing pooled grease reduces smoke and improves air circulation.
After cooking, it’s recommended to drain the strips on paper towels to remove excess grease. The leftover bacon fat can be strained and stored in a sealed container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to six months, useful for adding flavor to other dishes. For a sweeter touch, rubbing brown sugar on strips before air frying yields candied bacon.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces Bacon about 4-5 strips
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 350°F.
- Place bacon strips in the Air Fryer basket in a single layer with a little space between each one. If the bacon is too long to fit, or you’d like to get wavy pieces, place your pointer finger underneath a section or two and lift it up slightly.
- Cook bacon for 9-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the strips. Once crispy, remove from the Air Fryer and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Notes
- Adjust cooking time for bacon thickness: thick slices need slightly more time, thin slices less.
- Use aluminum foil on the basket bottom (not the perforated part) to ease cleaning but avoid blocking airflow.
- Drain or wipe excess grease between batches to prevent smoke during cooking.
- Save rendered bacon fat by storing in a sealed jar at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 6 months.
- For candied bacon, rub strips with brown sugar before air frying.
