Crispy Air Fryer Tofu

This Crispy Air Fryer Tofu recipe uses extra firm tofu marinated in a blend of tamari soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and optional Sriracha, then air fried for a textured exterior. The tofu is served wrapped with fresh vegetables like bell peppers, red cabbage, and tomato in tortillas or lettuce leaves, accompanied by a creamy avocado sauce or peanut sauce. The air fryer method crisps the tofu effectively without frying in oil, making it a satisfying plant-based option with balanced savory and tangy flavors.

Description

The Crispy Air Fryer Tofu recipe features tofu marinated in a mixture of tamari soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and optionally Sriracha for mild heat. After marinating, the tofu pieces are cooked in an air fryer at 375°F, which crisps the outside while keeping the inside tender. The recipe suggests assembling wraps with toasted tortillas or lettuce leaves filled with sliced bell peppers, shredded red cabbage, and tomato slices, topped with the air-fried tofu and a creamy avocado, Sriracha, or Asian peanut sauce for added flavor and creaminess.

This preparation delivers a contrast of textures, with crunchy tofu exterior and fresh crisp vegetables inside the wraps. The marinade adds a balanced umami and tangy note, while the sauces add a cooling or spicy complement depending on your choice. It's a versatile way to enjoy tofu as a hand-held meal or snack.

For best results, ensure the tofu is well pressed and dry before marinating and coat it evenly so it crisps uniformly in the air fryer. Turning the tofu pieces during cooking helps achieve even browning. The recipe also includes an alternative cornstarch coating method with spices for extra crispiness without marinade. These tofu wraps can serve as a convenient lunch or light dinner option.
