Crispy Baked Parmesan Chicken Wings

These crispy baked Parmesan chicken wings deliver a crunchy texture highlighted by a zesty blend of Parmesan cheese, parsley, and red pepper flakes. The wings are baked at high heat until golden crisp, then tossed in a flavorful Parmesan mixture ensuring each wing is well-coated. This recipe provides a hands-off baking method that avoids frying while still delivering a crisp exterior and savory finish, suitable for gatherings or a flavorful snack.

Description

Crispy Baked Parmesan Chicken Wings start with chicken wings seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Baking at 425°F on parchment paper allows the wings to crisp up without extra oil or frying. After baking for about 40 to 45 minutes until golden, a mixture of grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and seasoning is tossed with the hot wings to coat them thoroughly. This combination adds a sharp, herby, and mildly spicy flavor layered over the crispy skin.

The final dish offers a contrast between the crunchy exterior and tender chicken inside. The Parmesan and herb topping elevates traditional wings with a savory, cheesy twist that complements the subtle heat from the pepper flakes. Serving the wings immediately keeps the Parmesan mixture fresh and prevents sogginess.

For preparation, if wings are not pre-cut into wingettes and drumettes, the tips should be removed and discarded. For extra crispiness, if the wings aren't fully crispy after baking, briefly broiling for a few minutes while watching closely can help achieve the right texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Parmesan mixture

  • ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • ¼ cup parsley chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes chili
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, this will save you from scrubbing the baking pan until tomorrow.
  2. Season the wings generously with salt, pepper and the ½ tsp of garlic powder. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking pan. Bake for about 40 to 45 minutes or until they're golden crisp.
  3. While wings are baking, mix all the Parmesan mixture ingredients together in a small bowl.
  4. When the wings are done baking, transfer them to a bowl right away. Dump the Parmesan mixture over the wings and toss well, making sure each wing is fully covered with the Parmesan mixture. Serve right away.

Notes

  • If your wings are whole, remove wing tips and cut at the joint to separate into wingettes and drumettes before cooking.
  • Using parchment paper simplifies cleanup by preventing wings from sticking to the pan.
  • If after baking 45 minutes the wings aren't crispy enough, broil for 3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
