Crispy Baked Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings

Crispy baked salt and pepper chicken wings achieve a golden, crunchy exterior by baking with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Optional baking powder helps crisp the skin. The wings are arranged in a single layer and baked until their skin crisps nicely. Fresh parsley adds a clean finish. This method delivers wings with great texture without deep frying, suitable for a flavorful snack or main dish.

Description

This recipe features chicken wings seasoned with sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and optionally baking powder which promotes crispiness in the skin. The wings are tossed in olive oil to help seasoning adherence and baked on a parchment-lined baking sheet at a high temperature until golden and crispy, usually about 40 to 45 minutes. The baking powder elevates the skin’s crispness without altering flavor.

Resulting wings have a crunchy exterior and juicy interior, making them a satisfying finger food. Garnishing with chopped fresh parsley adds a touch of color and herbal brightness that contrasts with the rich wings.

Using sea salt provides a more nuanced salt flavor. Lining the baking sheet prevents sticking and eases cleanup. If wings don’t reach desired crispness, a brief broil at the end can help. Pre-cut wings into drumettes and wingettes ensure even cooking. This method offers a less greasy alternative to frying while still delivering crisp, savory wings.

  • Use sea salt for a better depth of flavor compared to regular table salt.
  • Remove wing tips if present and cut wings into drumettes and wingettes for even cooking.
