Crispy Loaded Tater Tots (James Coney Island Copycat)
Description
This recipe starts by deep-frying frozen tater tots in hot oil until golden brown and crispy, achieving a crisp texture on the outside while maintaining softness inside. After draining, the tots are layered in a greased casserole dish, sprinkled with shredded cheddar and crumbled cooked bacon, then baked briefly to allow the cheese to melt and blend flavors.
The finished dish is topped with dollops of sour cream and garnished with sliced green onions, adding creaminess and a fresh bite to the crispy, cheesy tots. The use of deep-frying is recommended for authenticity, though air frying is an acceptable alternative if preferred for convenience or reduced oil.
Ingredients
- vegetable oil for frying
- 8 ounces tater tots frozen

- Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese begins to melt.
- Remove the dish from oven and top it with sour cream and green onions.
Notes
- Deep frying is recommended for authentic crispiness, although air frying is a convenient alternative with less oil use.
