Crispy Smashed Potatoes (Extra Easy)

Crispy Smashed Potatoes are small boiled potatoes that are gently smashed, brushed with olive oil and garlic parsley salt, then broiled until golden and crisp. They’re topped with bacon crisps, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs for added flavor and texture. The process creates potatoes with a tender interior and a crunchy, flavorful exterior.

Description

This recipe starts by boiling small potatoes in salted water until tender, then spacing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Each potato is smashed flat with a masher to increase surface area. Brushing them with olive oil and seasoning with garlic parsley salt prepares them for broiling.

Broiling crisps the potatoes to a golden brown with a crunchy exterior while keeping their inside soft. Adding toppings of grated Parmesan, crumbled bacon crisps, and freshly chopped herbs enhances savory flavor and texture contrasts. The dish serves as a side or snack featuring crispy edges and tender centers.

It is important to arrange potatoes apart on the sheet to allow crisping rather than steaming, and to watch the broiling closely to prevent burning. The final result is a simple yet flavorful way to elevate boiled potatoes by smashing and crisping them under the broiler.
