Crock Pot Applesauce

Crock Pot Applesauce is a slow-cooked, naturally sweetened applesauce made from a mix of apple varieties, lemon peel, lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar. The long, gentle cooking breaks down the apples into a tender, flavorful sauce that can be smooth or chunky.

Description

This Crock Pot Applesauce recipe uses a variety of apples such as Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Fuji, and Gala to create a balanced sweetness and flavor complexity. The apples are peeled, cored, and sliced before being placed in a slow cooker with lemon peel strips, fresh lemon juice, a cinnamon stick, and light brown sugar for mild sweetness.

Cooked on low for 6 hours with occasional stirring, the apples soften gradually and release their juices, forming a smooth, aromatic applesauce. After removing the cinnamon stick, the mixture can be blended with an immersion blender for a uniform texture or left chunky for a rustic feel.

This applesauce makes about 3 cups and can be served as a side, topping, or snack. The slow cooker method allows for hands-off preparation, highlighting natural apple flavors enhanced by warm cinnamon and citrus notes.
