Crock Pot Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Report
Crock Pot Bacon Wrapped Smokies combine small smokie sausages wrapped in bacon and coated with brown sugar, slow-cooked in a crock pot until the bacon crisps and caramelizes. The sweetness of the brown sugar balances the smoky, salty flavors of the bacon and sausages. Cooking low and slow allows the flavors to meld and the bacon to cook fully while keeping the sausages tender. These bite-sized appetizers are suitable for parties or casual snacking where you can serve them warm straight from the crock pot.

Description

The recipe for Crock Pot Bacon Wrapped Smokies involves cutting bacon slices into thirds and wrapping each small smokie sausage piece with bacon, securing with toothpicks. The wrapped smokies are placed upright in a crock pot and sprinkled with brown sugar before cooking on high for 3 to 3.5 hours. The slow cooker method allows the bacon to render its fat and crisp up while the brown sugar caramelizes, creating a sweet and savory coating. The smokies inside remain juicy and tender throughout the cooking. This recipe yields a convenient appetizer that can be kept warm in the crock pot for serving at gatherings.

The balance of salty bacon and sweet brown sugar along with the smokie sausages produces a contrast in flavors and textures. The toothpicks hold the bacon securely in place while cooking and make serving individual pieces easier. The method requires no frying or oven baking, making it a straightforward option for long-duration cooking with minimal intervention.

Serve these bacon wrapped smokies warm from the crock pot during parties, game days, or social occasions. They work well as finger foods and can be paired with simple dipping sauces like mustard or barbecue sauce if desired. The recipe involves basic ingredients and requires advance preparation time for wrapping but is largely hands-off once placed in the crock pot.
