Crock Pot Baked Potatoes Recipe

Report
This Crock Pot Baked Potatoes Recipe results in tender Russet potatoes cooked slowly without added liquid. Each potato is rubbed with olive oil and salt, then placed in the crockpot to cook until soft through gentle slow cooking. The result is a hands-off baked potato with a soft interior and flavorful skin.

Description

The recipe uses six Russet baking potatoes washed, dried, and pricked with a fork to prevent bursting during cooking. They are rubbed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt to season the skins. Potatoes may be wrapped in foil but it is optional and affects skin texture. The crockpot is heated on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours, cooking the potatoes evenly without direct heat.

Slow cooking allows the potatoes to develop a soft texture inside while retaining moisture, making them easy to slice open and top with various toppings. The skin absorbs some oil and salt, adding subtle flavor and making it less peel-like compared to oven baking.

Once cooked, potatoes are carefully removed and served with favorite toppings such as butter, sour cream, cheese, or chives to complete a filling side dish or meal base.

Cooking time depends on potato size; smaller potatoes may be done sooner, so monitoring is suggested if sizes vary. Olive oil should be applied sparingly yet thoroughly rubbed on to enhance skin texture and flavor.
