  • 6 bone-in chicken thighs (skin on)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, combine BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic, smoked paprika, and onion powder. Mix in chicken broth to thin the sauce.
  3. Place chicken thighs in the Crock Pot.
  4. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 hours until chicken is tender.
  6. Preheat the oven's broiler. Transfer chicken to a baking sheet, brush with sauce from the Crock Pot, and broil for 5 minutes or until the skin is crispy.
  7. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Sauce Consistency: The sauce should be thin enough to easily coat the chicken but not too watery. The added water or chicken broth helps to achieve the right consistency.
  • Cooking Time: Cooking on low for 6 hours tends to yield more tender results.
