Crock Pot Chicken Teriyaki
Description
Crock Pot Chicken Teriyaki is made by placing sliced chicken at the bottom of a slow cooker and covering it with a sauce prepared from chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Cooking on low or high heat slowly tenderizes the chicken while blending the flavors. After the slow cooking phase, cornstarch is mixed into the sauce and allowed to thicken without the cover, giving the dish a rich, slightly sticky texture. Toasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top add a mild nutty note and a contrasting texture. The dish is traditionally served over a bed of freshly cooked rice, which soaks up the flavorful sauce and balances the sweetness of the teriyaki glaze.
Preparation in an Instant Pot is also possible, using the meat setting to cook the chicken before shredding it. Then the sauce is thickened separately on the sauté setting and combined back with the chicken. This flexibility makes the recipe adaptable for different kitchen appliances while preserving its characteristic flavors and textures.
The dish combines savory, sweet, and umami elements that make it enjoyable as a main course, suitable for a family dinner or meal prep option.
The recipe can be prepared in an Instant Pot by cooking the chicken on the meat setting, then shredding it and thickening the sauce separately before combining.Coating the chicken with the thickened sauce while hot ensures it soaks in well and stays moist.
