Description

Wings cook covered on low for 5-6 hours or high for about 2.5-3 hours, allowing the flavors to penetrate and the meat to become tender. Finishing under a broiler crisps the skin and deepens the sauce's caramelization.

This process yields wings that are soft inside with a sticky, flavorful coating. The brown sugar balances the heat of the buffalo sauce, and the spices add depth. Serving can be immediate, or the wings can be kept warm in the slow cooker.

Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to a week. Additional buffalo sauce can be brushed on before broiling if a spicier or saucier finish is desired.

  • 4 lbs chicken wings fresh or frozen
  • 1 1/2 cups buffalo sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken wings in the slow cooker.
  2. Combine the buffalo sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper together in a small bowl.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken wings.
  4. Cover and cook the wings on low for 5-6 hours or cook on high for 2.5-3 hours.
  5. When finished line a baking sheet with foil and place the chicken wings on the baking sheet.
  6. Preheat oven and broil for 5-10 minutes (flipping halfway) until they begin to brown.
  7. Serve immediately or place them back in the crock pot the keep warm setting to serve them!

Notes

  • Store leftover chicken wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days.
  • You can brush on extra buffalo sauce before broiling if you prefer more sauce on your wings.
