Crock pot corn on the cob

Report
Crock pot corn on the cob is prepared by brushing husked ears with olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper, then slow-cooked in a crock pot with water. The process gently steams the corn until tender and bright yellow. Final basting with butter adds richness before serving. This method offers a hands-off way to cook multiple corn ears evenly and keep them warm for a longer time.

Description

Crock pot corn on the cob is made by preparing fresh corn ears with olive oil, salt, and black pepper, then placing them in a crock pot containing water. Cooked on high for 3 to 4 hours, the corn softens fully and develops a vibrant yellow color. Brushing the cooked corn with butter enhances the flavor and texture. This slow cooking method is convenient for preparing corn without active stove-top attention and works well for cooking several ears at once.

The texture turns tender and juicy due to the moist heat environment created by the water in the crock pot. The olive oil aids in seasoning while the butter finish adds a creamy richness that complements the natural sweetness of the corn. The recipe suits casual meals and can be paired with grilled meats or salads.

To fit all the corn inside your crock pot, breaking the ears into smaller pieces is an option. Any size crock pot works as long as the corn fits comfortably without crowding.

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Notes

  • A 6-quart crock pot works well, but adjust the size to suit the number of corn ears and crock pot capacity.
  • Breaking the corn into smaller pieces can help them fit if your crock pot is smaller.
