Crock Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Crock Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes are made by slow-cooking whole skin-on potatoes and whole garlic cloves in chicken broth until tender. Sour cream, butter, and seasonings are mashed into the potatoes to create a creamy, flavorful side dish with a mild garlic presence. Milk is added last to adjust consistency to preference, and fresh parsley is used as garnish.

Description

This recipe involves slow cooking five pounds of whole potatoes with their skins and six whole garlic cloves submerged in chicken broth within a crock pot until fork tender over several hours. The cooked potatoes and garlic are then mashed with sour cream, butter, salt, pepper, and oregano, blending richness with savory herb notes. Milk is stirred in at the end to achieve the desired creamy texture while maintaining some body from the skins.

The garlic becomes mellow and soft through prolonged cooking, imparting gentle flavor without sharpness. These mashed potatoes are well suited to accompany hearty meals such as roasts or poultry. The addition of fresh chopped parsley adds color and a hint of freshness at serving.
