Crock Pot Pork Roast

The Crock Pot Pork Roast features a boneless pork loin roast seasoned and seared to seal flavors, then slow-cooked with a tangy orange sauce made from marmalade, hoisin sauce, balsamic vinegar, honey, and spices. Cooking in a slow cooker yields tender, flavorful slices complemented by a glossy, slightly sweet and savory sauce.

Description

This recipe begins by seasoning a 3-pound boneless pork loin roast with salt and black pepper and searing all sides in a hot skillet to develop a flavorful crust. The seared roast is then transferred to a slow cooker. The orange sauce is prepared by whisking together orange marmalade, hoisin sauce, balsamic vinegar, honey, ground black pepper, and garlic salt, creating a complex blend of sweet, tangy, and savory tastes.

Pouring the sauce over the roast, the slow cooker cooks the pork on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours until it reaches a safe internal temperature of 145°F. The long, gentle cooking tenderizes the roast, infusing it with the aromatic sauce. After cooking, the pork is sliced and served with the leftover sauce spooned over the top, enhancing the moistness and flavor of each serving.

This method provides convenience for hands-off cooking while achieving a moist and flavorful roast suitable for a family meal. The sauce's balance of citrus, sweetness, and umami gives the pork a distinctive edge compared to plain roasts.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 pound pork loin roast boneless
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Orange Sauce:

  • ¼ cup orange marmalade
  • 2 Tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp black pepper ground
  • 1 tsp garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, and add the olive oil. While skillet heats, salt and pepper all sides of the pork roast. In the hot skillet, sear each side of the pork roast for 2 minutes, and the ends of the pork roast for one minute each. Transfer the seared roast to a slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the marmalade, Hoisin sauce, vinegar, honey, pepper and garlic salt. Pour over the roast.
  3. Cook the roast in the slow cooker on LOW for 6 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours (until your roast reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F). Remove from the slow cooker, slice the roast, and serve with the remaining orange sauce over the top of the pork slices.
