Crock Pot Pork Roast and Gravy
Description
Crock Pot Pork Roast and Gravy features a simple combination of pork roast cooked slowly in a mixture of cream of chicken soup and onion soup mix. The slow cooking method breaks down the pork, making it tender enough to shred with a fork and allowing it to absorb the flavors of the soup mixture.
The gravy develops naturally from the soup and meat liquids, creating a creamy and savory sauce that coats the pork nicely. The softness of the pork contrasts with the smooth texture of the gravy, providing a hearty dish.
Typically served with starchy sides like mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles, this recipe offers a warming meal option. Adding ingredients such as garlic, shallots, onions, or mushrooms during the slow cooking process can deepen the flavor and add extra texture.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds pork roast
- 20 ounces cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet onion soup mix
Instructions
- Add the cream of chicken soup and onion soup mix to a 5-6 quart slow cooker and stir to combine.
- Add the pork roast to the slow cooker and spoon some of the soup mixture over the roast.
- Cover and cook on high for 5 hours or low for 9 hours, until pork is easily shred with a fork.
- Stir the pork into the gravy and serve.
Notes
- This recipe serves well with mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles to complement the gravy.
- Additional seasonings such as garlic, shallots, onions, or mushrooms can be added to the slow cooker to enhance flavor during cooking.
