Crock Pot Pork Roast with Gravy
Description
The Crock Pot Pork Roast with Gravy brings together pork shoulder rubbed with a dried herb seasoning blend including rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano, pepper, and nutmeg. The meat cooks gently over several hours with sliced onions and carrots in a mix of cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and pork gravy mix. This combination produces a savory, thick gravy that coats the roast and vegetables.
Cooking low and slow in a 6-quart slow cooker softens the pork to a fork-tender consistency, while the carrots and onions absorb the fragrant sauce. The dish’s flavors develop through prolonged simmering, creating a comforting and easy meal ready to serve with potatoes or other sides.
Variations include substituting onion soup mix for pork gravy and swapping between cream of chicken and mushroom soups for different flavor nuances. The recipe also suggests adding frozen green beans toward the end for extra vegetables. Leftovers reheat well and can provide additional meals.
You can substitute onion soup mix for the pork gravy mix to alter the flavor profile.Using all cream of chicken or all cream of mushroom soup is possible to vary the gravy base.A 6-quart slow cooker size works well for this recipe and yield.Adding frozen green beans during the last 30 minutes can increase vegetable content in the dish.
