Crock Pot Pulled Pork

This Crock Pot Pulled Pork recipe slow-cooks a pork loin with onions and Dr. Pepper soda to infuse flavor and tenderize the meat. After shredding, the pork is combined with a smoky and slightly sweet BBQ sauce seasoned with garlic powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and optional Tabasco sauce for heat. It's a hands-off recipe yielding tender, flavorful pulled pork suitable for sandwiches or as a main dish.

Description

Crock Pot Pulled Pork uses a 2.5-pound boneless pork loin cooked with chopped onions and Dr. Pepper soda in a slow cooker. The baking soda tenderizes the meat while the soda adds a subtle sweetness. The pork cooks on high for 4 hours or low for 7-8 hours until easily shredded. After removing and draining the meat, it’s shredded with forks and returned to the slow cooker.

Barbecue sauce mixed with dark brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and optional Tabasco sauce adds a layered smoky, sweet, and mildly spicy flavor. The pork cooks on low for an additional 30 minutes to meld the sauce. The finished pulled pork is tender, richly spiced, and ready to serve as a filling for sandwiches or alongside favorite sides.
