Crock Pot Rice
Description
Crock Pot Rice is prepared by placing uncooked rice with the appropriate amount of water—double the volume of rice—in a slow cooker, along with salt for seasoning. Cooking on high heat for approximately 1 ½ to 2½ hours allows the rice to absorb the water and become tender without burning. The slow, moist heat ensures even cooking and prevents sticking when timed correctly. Fluffing with a fork after cooking separates the grains, resulting in light and fluffy rice.
This method is ideal for hands-off cooking and can be used for many dishes requiring rice accompaniment. It can be served directly or cooled and frozen for later use in various meals.
Ingredients
- 4 cups rice
- 8 cups water
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Place the rice on the bottom of the crockpot and season with the salt.
- Pour water over the rice. (You want double the water as rice, so if you have 2 cups of rice, you will need 4 cups of water).
- Cook on high for 1 1/2 to 2½ hours for white rice.
- Fluff with a fork and serve or freeze.
