Crock pot Sweet Potatoes
Description
Crock pot sweet potatoes are prepared by washing and pricking medium-sized potatoes multiple times with a fork, then placing them directly into a crock pot. They cook on low heat for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 3.5 hours until easily pierced by a knife and soft when gently squeezed. Cooking whole and unpeeled preserves moisture and yields a tender interior.
The simple topping of butter, salt, and pepper enhances the sweet potatoes’ natural flavors, creating a satisfying balance of creamy, salty, and slightly spicy notes. The slow cooking method produces consistently soft texture throughout the potato.
This preparation suits hands-off cooking overnight or during the day and can serve as a nutrient-rich side dish or base for various toppings. The potatoes can be customized with additional toppings as desired.
According to the notes, these sweet potatoes are also delicious served with brown sugar and marshmallows for a sweeter variation.
