Crockpot AppleSauce
Description
This applesauce comes together by placing prepared apples in a crockpot with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top, plus a small amount of water to prevent sticking. Slow cooking on low heat for six hours allows the apples to break down and the flavors to meld gently.
After cooking, the apples are stirred to form a sauce. For a smoother consistency, the mixture can be processed in a blender or food processor, or left chunky if preferred.
Once cooled in the refrigerator, this applesauce makes a wholesome snack or side dish. The cinnamon introduces subtle warm spice that complements the natural apple sweetness without overpowering.
This recipe produces a fresh homemade applesauce ideal for enjoying as a snack, adding to breakfast, or serving alongside meals.
Ingredients
- 10 pounds apple
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Peel, core and chop apples.
- Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Add the water to the crock pot.
- Cook on low for 6 hours. Stir.
- Apples should become a sauce as you stir. If you would like a “less” chunky sauce then place in a food processor or blender.
- Cool in Fridge.
- Then the apple sauce is ready to serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Peel, core, and chop apples before slow cooking for even softening.
- Adjust the texture by blending after cooking for a smoother sauce or stir to keep it chunky.
- Cool the applesauce thoroughly in the refrigerator before serving.
- This applesauce makes a wholesome after school or anytime snack.
