Crockpot Bacon Wrapped Smokies
Description
This recipe involves cutting bacon into thirds to wrap individually around each small smokie sausage and securing them with toothpicks. A mixture of brown sugar and paprika is used to season the crockpot, both beneath and over the wrapped sausages. Cooking on high for three hours allows the bacon to soften and the sugar to caramelize, so the smokies are bathed in a sweet, mildly spiced coating that complements the smoky sausage.
The slow cooker method requires minimal active preparation and produces consistent results, with even coloring helped by occasionally stirring the sausages. Once finished, the smokies can be served warm straight from the pot, making a convenient finger food for gatherings.
This combination of sweet, smoky, and savory flavors makes the dish versatile for entertaining with little fuss.
