Crockpot BBQ Baked Beans
Description
This recipe starts by frying bacon until crisp, then cooking ground beef with onion and garlic until browned and tender. These are combined with drained pork and beans, butter beans, and kidney beans for varied textures. The mixture is flavored with barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, molasses, salt, and pepper, then slow-cooked in a crockpot to allow flavors to blend thoroughly.
The final dish offers a thick, saucy texture with savory, sweet, and smoky flavors. The bacon and beef add a meaty richness balanced by the sweetness of molasses and brown sugar, while mustard provides a subtle tang.
These baked beans make a hearty side for burgers, hotdogs, or barbecue meals. They can be kept in the fridge and reheated as needed.
Check barbecue sauce and pork and beans labels for gluten-free status if dietary restrictions apply.
