Crockpot Cheeseburger Macaroni
Description
The recipe starts by browning ground beef with onions and minced garlic to develop savory depth. The browned beef mixture is transferred to a 6-quart slow cooker, then seasoned with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce before adding beef broth for simmering. Uncooked elbow macaroni is stirred in 15 minutes before serving, absorbing broth and cooking to tender perfection. Finally, shredded sharp cheddar cheese is added and melted through to create a creamy texture that binds the pasta with the beef.
The slow cooking method allows flavors to meld and the beef to remain moist, while the pasta finishes cooking gently without sticking or overcooking. The cheddar provides a sharp, creamy finish without overpowering the dish.
Serve this hearty macaroni close to the end of cooking to maintain the best texture. It pairs well with steamed broccoli or other simple vegetable sides to round out the meal.
Using hand-shredded block cheese is recommended for more even melting compared to pre-shredded types.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef browned
- 1/2 onion diced
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- 3 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 16 oz elbow macaroni not cooked
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until it is brown. (Or use your Ninja)
- Add to a 6 quart slow cooker.
- Add in onion, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce and broth. Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4.
- 15 minutes before serving stir in the pasta. It will look very watery but don't worry the pasta will soak it up. Cover and cook for 15 minutes until the desired tenderness is reached.
- Stir in the cheese until melted.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Hand shred block cheddar cheese for better melting and flavor distribution.
- Sharp cheddar works well, but other cheeses can be substituted according to taste.
- Pair with steamed broccoli to create a balanced meal.
