Crockpot French Dip

Report
The Crockpot French Dip recipe slow-cooks a beef roast with onion, garlic, onion soup mix, and beef broth until tender. The meat is shredded and served on toasted hoagie rolls topped with melted provolone cheese. The cooking liquid serves as a flavorful dipping broth that accompanies the sandwiches.

Description

This recipe uses a large beef roast cooked in a slow cooker along with sliced onion, minced garlic, a packet of onion soup mix, and beef broth to develop a rich cooking liquid. Slow cooking on low for 8–10 hours tenderizes the beef so it can be easily shredded. The meat is then piled onto toasted hoagie rolls and topped with provolone cheese, which can be melted under a broiler.

The juices left in the crockpot become a dipping sauce for the sandwiches, enhancing their moisture and flavor. Serving as a warm, satisfying meal, these French Dip sandwiches balance savory beef with soft bread and melted cheese, ideal for casual dining.

For a thicker dipping sauce, a mixture of cornstarch and water can be stirred into the broth and heated on high until it thickens to a sauce consistency. Additionally, the dish can be assembled ahead and freezes well by combining all ingredients before cooking.
