Crockpot Green Bean Casserole

This Crockpot Green Bean Casserole uses frozen green beans cooked slowly with condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and seasoning to create a creamy base. It's topped with crispy fried onions that are toasted for extra crunch and flavor just before serving. The slow cooking yields tender beans infused with savory mushroom and soy flavors in a casual, comforting side dish.

Description

This casserole starts by combining thawed frozen green beans with cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, seasoned salt, and a majority of crispy fried onions in a slow cooker. It cooks on low heat for two and a half to three hours until the beans are tender and the mixture is well combined. Before serving, the remaining fried onions are toasted in a dry skillet to enhance their texture and deepen their flavor, then sprinkled over the top for a crunchy contrast.

The result is a warm, creamy casserole where the mushroom soup and soy sauce bring savory umami notes, and the fried onions add a signature crispy topping. This dish works well as a comforting side for traditional meals, particularly during holiday seasons or gatherings.

Frozen green beans can be replaced with drained canned green beans if preferred. Options such as adding shredded cheddar cheese or sautéed mushrooms can further customize the flavor and texture.
