Cuban Sliders

Cuban Sliders are made with a package of Hawaiian rolls sliced horizontally and layered with Dijon mustard mixed with Worcestershire sauce and melted butter, deli ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese slices, and dill pickles. After assembling, the sliders are topped with a garlic-butter mixture and everything bagel seasoning, then baked until golden and melty. They offer a compact sandwich with a savory blend of pork, tangy pickles, and melted cheese.

Description

This recipe starts by slicing a whole package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally while keeping the top and bottom connected. The bottom half is coated with a mustard and Worcestershire sauce mixture blended with melted butter. Sliced deli ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles are layered on top.

The top half of the rolls is coated with the remaining mustard mixture and placed cut side down over the fillings. Another butter and minced garlic mixture is brushed on top of the assembled slider loaf and sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning. Baking the sliders at 400°F melts the cheese, warms the pork, and crisps the top crust slightly.

The flavors combine sweet rolls, sharp mustard and tangy Worcestershire, smoky pulled pork and ham, nutty Swiss cheese, and crunchy pickles. This makes for a savory, satisfying slider perfect for parties or casual meals. The recipe yields 12 sliders and can easily be doubled using a larger baking sheet without changing bake time.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 count package hawaiian rolls
  • 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 - 1 lb deli ham depending on how much ham you want to use, sliced
  • 1 lb pork pulled
  • 12 lices swiss cheese
  • 1 small jar dill pickles or dill pickle chips, sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter divided, melted
  • 1 Tbsp garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and lightly grease a 9x13" baking pan. Set aside.
  2. Add package of rolls to your cutting board and using a serrated knife (like a bread knife), carefully slice across the rolls, horizontally, keeping one hand on top of the rolls to steady them.
  3. Once sliced, keep the rolls connected to each other and lift the entire top section off of the bottom section. Add the bottom section of the rolls to the prepared baking pan.
  4. In a small mixing bowl, combine mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and 3 Tbsp of the melted butter. Spread half of the mustard mixture over the bottom half of the rolls in the baking pan.
  5. Add ham slices on top of the mustard, then add the pulled pork on top of the ham. Top that with the cheese slices and pickles.
  6. Spread remaining mustard mixture over the cut side of the top half of the rolls, then add top half of rolls, cut side down, on top of the pickles.
  7. In another small mixing bowl, add remaining 5 Tbsp melted butter and minced garlic. Brush mixture over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle with everything seasoning.
  8. Cover loosely with foil and bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake another 5 minutes, or until hot and golden.

Notes

  • This recipe makes 12 sliders; double the ingredients and use a large rimmed baking sheet to make more without extending the baking time.
  • Keep the rolls connected when slicing for easy assembly and to maintain shape during baking.
