Cube Steak

This Cube Steak recipe features tenderized beef coated in a seasoned flour mixture and pan-fried until golden, served with a rich mushroom gravy made from sautéed onions, mushrooms, and beef broth thickened with cornstarch. The combination of savory seasonings and creamy gravy complements the beef, making it a comforting dish that pairs well with mashed potatoes or vegetables.

Description

Beef cube steaks are seasoned with a blend of flour, black pepper, salt, onion, and garlic powders, then coated evenly. Pan-frying in olive oil creates a crisp exterior while preserving juice inside. The mushroom gravy is prepared by sautéing onions and mushrooms to golden tenderness, then simmered with beef broth and onion soup mix. A cornstarch slurry thickens the sauce, which coats the steaks when returned to the skillet. The gravy has a savory depth from the broth and soup mix, enriched by mushrooms and onions.

The dish balances a tender meaty texture with a velvety, flavorful gravy, suitable as a main course served with sides like mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables that can soak up the sauce.
