Cucumber Sandwich
Description
Cucumber Sandwich consists of thin slices of peeled cucumber layered between butter-spread slices of bread, which can be whole wheat, brown, or white. Removing the crusts is optional, and the crusts can be repurposed as breadcrumbs. The butter helps keep the sandwich from becoming soggy while adding richness to the mild cucumber flavor.
Seasoning with freshly crushed black pepper and a pinch of salt provides a subtle kick and enhances the fresh cucumber taste. The sandwiches are typically cut into rectangular or triangular shapes and served immediately to maintain crispness.
They are often complemented by various dips or sauces, adding a savory element. This sandwich is a classic choice for a light lunch, snack, or tea accompaniment.
