Currywurst Recipe

Currywurst Recipe consists of browned bratwursts pan-fried until cooked through and served with a spiced ketchup-based curry sauce. The sauce is made by simmering tomato ketchup and water with baking soda, then seasoning with onion powder, cayenne powder, soy or Worcestershire sauce, and curry powder to produce a flavorful, tangy, and mildly spicy accompaniment typical of the German fast-food classic.

Description

This Currywurst recipe focuses on preparing sausages, such as bratwurst or Hungarian varieties, by making slits to prevent bursting and frying them in oil until browned. The curry sauce is prepared in the same skillet by simmering tomato ketchup with water and a bit of baking soda to mellow acidity and produce a smoother texture.

Additional seasonings—onion powder, cayenne, soy or Worcestershire sauce, and curry powder—are stirred into the sauce and briefly simmered to allow the flavors to meld. The sauce is then poured over the cooked sausages, typically served alongside French fries or buns.

This dish reflects a popular German street food or casual meal combining savory sausage with a distinctively spiced tomato-based curry sauce.
