Delicious Roasted Garlic Recipe
Description
The Delicious Roasted Garlic Recipe starts by removing the papery skin from whole garlic heads while leaving the cloves intact. The tops are sliced off slightly to expose the individual cloves. Each head is drizzled with olive oil, wrapped securely in parchment-lined foil, and baked in the oven at 400°F for 45 to 70 minutes until the cloves are soft and golden. This slow roasting process transforms raw garlic's sharp pungency into a smooth, sweet, and spreadable texture.
The roasted garlic cloves can be easily squeezed from their skins when cool, making them versatile for blending into mashed potatoes, spreading on bread, or mixing into dressings and sauces. The mellow flavor enhances dishes without strong harshness, providing a rich depth of taste.
This method works well for roasting smaller batches by limiting the quantity per foil package to about three heads. Multiple packages can be baked simultaneously in a baking dish covered with foil to handle larger volumes. The garlic’s soft texture after roasting provides a user-friendly way to incorporate garlic flavor gently into preparations.
Ingredients
- 1 head garlic see notes
- ½ teaspoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a piece of aluminum foil with parchment paper.
- Remove the papery skin from the head of garlic, making sure to keep the cloves intact. Cut ¼ inch off the top of each head of garlic so that all of the cloves are exposed.
- Place the head of garlic into the parchment paper and drizzle the top with oil. Wrap the aluminum foil package up tightly and place it into a baking dish.
- Roast the garlic for 45-70 minutes, or until it is soft and turns golden.
- Let the garlic cool before squeezing the cloves out of the skins.
Notes
- Keep no more than three heads of garlic per foil package to ensure even roasting.
- For large batches, arrange multiple garlic packages in a baking dish covered with foil for simultaneous roasting.
- Cool cloves before squeezing out to prevent burns and allow clean separation from skins.
