Denny's French Toast

Denny's French Toast uses a batter made from eggs, milk, flour, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to soak thick slices of Texas Toast bread. Cooking on a buttered skillet creates golden brown slices with a tender custardy interior and mild sweetness from vanilla and powdered sugar. The toasts are served with butter and maple syrup, offering a classic American breakfast or brunch option.

Description

This version of French toast starts by whisking eggs and milk together before adding flour, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, creating a smooth custard batter. Straining the batter ensures a uniform coating. Thick Texas Toast slices are soaked briefly in the custard, absorbing enough to develop a soft, flavorful center without falling apart.

Cooking on a butter-brushed skillet or griddle heated to around 350°F produces a golden crust while preserving tenderness inside. The bread cooks 1 to 2 minutes per side to finish with an even color and gentle firmness. Sprinkling powdered sugar on top adds subtle extra sweetness.

Serving with butter and maple syrup ties the toast into a familiar breakfast dish. The gentle vanilla flavor and the slightly thickened batter differentiate this rendition, offering a rich yet approachable toast classic.
