Deviled eggs

Deviled eggs are hard-boiled eggs halved and filled with a creamy yolk mixture blended with mayonnaise, yellow mustard, salt, and pepper. The filling is smooth yet slightly textured, balanced by the tangy mustard and rich mayonnaise. Garnished with paprika and fresh chives, these eggs offer a classic savory bite. They are commonly served as appetizers or party snacks.

Description

Deviled eggs combine simple ingredients including hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, and yellow mustard to create a creamy filling returned to the firm egg whites. The mustard adds a tangy tone that cuts through the richness of the mayonnaise and egg yolks. The eggs are cooked by simmering and resting in hot water, which yields a tender white and slightly firm yolk perfect for mashing. A sprinkle of paprika on top adds subtle smoky warmth and the chopped chives contribute a fresh, mild onion flavor plus color contrast. The dish is straightforward to prepare and presents a balanced texture of creamy filling against the firm egg white.

These eggs work well as a savory finger food served cold, commonly seen at gatherings or as a light snack. Their compact size and easily customized filling make them practical for entertaining or everyday meals.
