Dog Cake Recipe
Description
The recipe uses whole ingredients safe for dogs such as creamy peanut butter, shredded carrot, and almond or alternative flours to create a batter mixed with egg, vegetable oil, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. The mixture is baked at 350 degrees F in a mini loaf or bundt pan, ensuring an even, moist crumb.
Once cooled, the cake can be served in small pieces to dogs as a special treat rather than a full meal. The inclusion of natural sweeteners and wholesome flours provides gentle sweetness and texture without additives. Variations of flours including whole wheat or alternative grains offer customization based on dietary needs.
The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Frostings using plain Greek yogurt mixed with peanut butter or cooked potatoes offer safe and tasty topping options. Due to its rich ingredients, moderate portion sizes are recommended when feeding to dogs.

- In a medium bowl, combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey (optional).

- Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes, (mine was done after 30). Turn onto a wire rack and let cool completely.
Notes

- Whole wheat flour or alternative flours can replace almond flour according to dietary needs.
- Suitable baking pans include small mini loaf pans or 6 cup bundt pans.
- Store the cake in an airtight container refrigerated for up to three days.
- Serve small pieces at a time; consult a vet before dietary changes.
- Optional frostings include mashed cooked potatoes with plain Greek yogurt or peanut butter mixed with yogurt.
