Dorito Casserole
Description
This casserole begins with browning ground beef and onions, then adding minced garlic, taco seasoning, and salsa to build a flavorful meat mixture. Once cooked and combined, sour cream is stirred in to add creaminess. The mixture is layered in a baking dish alternated with shredded cheddar cheese and crushed Doritos, with the final layer topped by more cheese.
Baking melts the cheese and softens the Doritos slightly, while retaining some crispness. The nacho cheese flavor from the chips adds a sharp, cheesy note paired with the well-seasoned meat and creamy elements. After baking, toppings such as diced tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, or diced avocado may be added to refresh the casserole with contrasting textures and flavors.
This dish serves as a hearty main course inspired by Mexican flavors, suitable for casual meals and can feed a crowd. It combines convenience and bold flavor through layered textures.
