Dragon Fruit Syrup
Description
The syrup begins by combining sugar, pieces of red dragon fruit, and water in a pot, bringing mixture to a boil. Simmering gently for about 10 minutes softens the fruit and dissolves the sugar, allowing flavors to blend. After cooking, the syrup is poured through a sieve to remove the fruit pulp and seeds, leaving a smooth, colorful liquid. The syrup thickens as it cools and is stored refrigerated to maintain freshness. It remains usable for up to two weeks.
The syrup retains the mild sweetness and subtle tropical fruit notes characteristic of dragon fruit. Its smooth texture and bright color make it a versatile ingredient that can enhance breakfast dishes or be incorporated into cocktails or lemonades.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar 200g
- 1 cup red dragon fruit fresh or frozen, pieces
- ¾ cup water 180ml
