Easy 10-Minute Sour Cream Dip
Description
The Easy 10-Minute Sour Cream Dip blends sour cream and mayonnaise with seasoning including kosher salt, black pepper, garlic and onion granules, ground cumin, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Fresh minced chives add a mild onion flavor and a touch of color. The ingredients are mixed until smooth and creamy, creating a dip that carries both savory and subtle spicy notes.
The dip can be served right away, retaining a fresh, lively character, or allowed to rest for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to integrate. The creamy base and gentle heat make it suitable as a complement for vegetables, chips, or sandwich spreads.
Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to four days and should be brought to room temperature before serving for best flavor and texture. Adjust the cayenne for heat preference, and draining excess liquid from sour cream can improve creaminess. Garlic and onion granules are preferred for texture and flavor, but powders work as well.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt or ¼ teaspoon of any other salt, including Morton kosher salt, Diamond Crystal brand
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic granules or powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion granules or powder
- ¼ teaspoon cumin ground
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons chives minced, divided
Instructions

- Mix with a rubber spatula until all the ingredients are fully combined and the dip is smooth and fluffy.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and top it with the remaining chives.
