Easy Air Fryer Fried Pickles
Description
This recipe uses sliced pickles dipped in a seasoned buttermilk mixture that may include hot seasoning for extra flavor. The pickles are then dredged in a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, oregano, smoked paprika, and garlic powder to create a flavorful crust. The air fryer cooks the pickles at 400°F, crisping them without deep frying.
The method involves coating the pickles quickly in batches, placing them in the air fryer basket to prevent overcrowding for even cooking. A light spray of oil about three minutes before the end of cooking helps ensure the coating crisps golden brown. The combination of spices and cheese in the coating adds layers of taste alongside the pickle's briny bite.
These fried pickles are best served warm to maintain crispiness. They can be prepared with various pickle slice shapes, including rounds or wedges, depending on preference. The recipe includes notes about batch cooking due to basket size, storing leftovers in the fridge for a couple of days, and monitoring air fryer models for best results.

- Put seasoned buttermilk in a bowl.
- Mix together breadcrumbs, cheese and seasonings in another bowl.

- Keep working quickly to fill the basket, insert the basket into the Air Fryer and fry for 8-10 minutes.
- About 3 minutes before they’re done, lightly spray the pickles with spray oil so that the breadcrumbs can crisp up and become golden brown.
- Repeat by breading the rest of the pickles and continuing to fry in batches until finished.
Notes
- Air fry in 2-3 batches if your air fryer basket is small to ensure even cooking.
- You can use pre-sliced pickles or slice your own into rounds or wedges based on preference.
- Splitting the breadcrumb mixture into two bowls can prevent sogginess during coating.
- Serve the fried pickles warm to keep the coating crisp; they will get soggy as they cool.
- Use shallow bowls for dipping to make the breading process easier and cleaner.
- Cooking times and temperatures may vary by air fryer model, so monitor your pickles to avoid overcooking.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator and consume within two days.
