Easy Air Fryer Taco Lasagna

This Air Fryer Taco Lasagna layers ground beef cooked with Mexican spices and tomato sauce between flour tortillas and cheddar cheese. The assembled dish is cooked in an air fryer until the cheese melts, creating a layered casserole with seasoned, tender beef and melted cheese between soft tortillas. It can be cooked in an oven as an alternative.

Description

The dish begins with sautéed onions and garlic, then browned ground beef combined with oregano, cumin, adobo seasoning, and tomato sauce. This meat mixture is divided into portions for layering. The lasagna is built by placing tortillas and alternating layers of beef and shredded cheddar cheese, finishing with a cheese-topped tortilla. Cooking in the air fryer at 350°F for about 7 minutes melts the cheese and melds the layers.

The lasagna can also be cooked in the oven using the same layering process and similar cook time. The tortilla layers help the casserole hold shape when sliced. Suggested toppings can be added according to preference.

Allowing the assembled lasagna to rest before cutting helps it stay intact. Leftovers should be stored in airtight containers and consumed within three days. Spicy jalapeños or spicy cheeses can be added to customize the heat level.

Notes

  • Cook the beef mixture fully before layering for best texture and flavor.
  • For extra heat, add chopped jalapeño or use pepper jack cheese in the recipe.
  • Use plain canned tomato sauce to avoid unwanted Italian seasoning flavors.
  • Divide the meat mixture into three parts to build distinct layers and improve structure.
  • Let the lasagna rest a few minutes before slicing to help it hold together better.
  • Make ahead and freeze an extra casserole for future meals.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
