Easy Baked Brie with Apples

Easy Baked Brie with Apples features a wheel of brie topped with caramelized apple pieces, sweetened with brown sugar and spiced with cinnamon. Chopped pecans add texture and nutty flavor. The assembled cheese and topping bake until warm and gooey, perfect for serving with bread or crackers.

Description

This recipe begins by sautéing diced apples in butter with brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon, cooking them until soft and caramelized. The brie wheel is scored or left whole and placed in a baking dish. The sticky apple mixture is spooned over the cheese and sprinkled with chopped pecans.

Baking at 350°F for 15 minutes softens the brie to a creamy texture beneath the caramelized topping. The pecans add crunch that contrasts with the smooth cheese and tender apples. This combination balances sweet, nutty, and creamy elements.

The baked brie is best served hot alongside crackers, bread slices, or fresh apple slices for scooping. It works well as an appetizer or snack for gatherings.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 apple $0.70
  • 2 Tbsp butter $0.20
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar $0.09
  • 1 pinch cinnamon $0.02
  • 8 oz. brie $2.99, wheel
  • 1/4 cup pecans $0.52, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Peel and chop the apple into ½-inch pieces.
  2. Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the chopped apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sauté the apples in the butter and brown sugar until they're softened and the brown sugar has reduced into a sticky caramel (about 10 minutes).
  3. Score the top of the wheel of brie in a hatch pattern (you can also remove the top layer of rind, or leave it whole). Place the brie in a small baking dish, then pour the caramelized apples over top. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
  4. Bake the brie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Enjoy the brie hot with crackers, bread, or apple slices.
